Members carry out research in many areas (especially those covered by the flagship Journal of Biological Physics and Chemistry (JBPC) and, more recently, Nanotechnology Perceptions), the results of which are published in the regular scientific literature. In addition, there are a number of special centres and units established in areas for which there is a perceived need. Their lifetime is indefinite; they are dissolved when the need disappears, after their achievements have been adequately documented.
